हुआन होज़े सेयर / Juan José Saer

Juan José Saer was born in Santa Fe, Argentina in 1937 and left for Paris in 1968, where he taught film and literature. He died in 2005. His books in English translation include The Event, Nobody, Nothing, Never, and The Investigation, translated by Helen Lane, as well as The Witness, translated by Margaret Jull Costa. Other work available in English translation includes an excerpt from El río sin orillas (The Boundless River), translated by Marina Harss, “Shadows across Frosted Glass” (Sombras sobre vidrio esmerilado), translated by Matthew Lansburgh, and “Baked Mud,” translated by Sergio Waisman for The World Through the Eyes of Writers, a Words Without Borders anthology. Open Letter Books will publish the full translation of Gloss in November, 2010.
