शर्मिष्ठा मोहंती / Sharmistha Mohanty
Sharmistha Mohanty is the author of two novels, Book One and New Life, as well as Broken Nest and Other Stories, a translation of Tagore’s fiction. She is the founder editor of the online literature journal Almost Island, and the initiator of the Almost Island Dialogues, an annual international writers meet held in New Delhi. Mohanty is on the international faculty of the new Creative Writing MFA with an Asian focus, at the City University of Hong Kong.
Mohanty studied fiction at the Iowa Writers Workshop. She has held fellowships at Germany’s Akademie Schloss Solitude, and Yaddo in the United States, among others.
Her other serious interest is cinema, and she has worked with film directors Mani Kaul and Kabir Mohanty, her husband.
