उत्तर-पूर्व की आवाज़ / Voices From the North-East
| यह बहुत दुखद है कि उत्तर-पूर्व में इतने लम्बे समय से जारी अशांति, हिंसा और आतंकवाद भारतीय राष्ट्र राज्य की मुख्यधारा में एक गौण विषयांतर से अधिक नहीं है – विडंबनापूर्वक ढंग से राष्ट्रीय मुख्यधारा के कलाकर्म में भी जो अन्यथा बहुत आक्रोशमय और प्रतिश्रुत नज़र आता है. तरूण भारतीय के अनुवाद में छह कवियों की और उद्दीपना की कविताएँ तथा तीन कथाकारों – मित्रा फूकन, श्रुतिमाला और आरूणी कश्यप की कहानियाँ हमें यह याद दिलाती है कि ‘उत्तर-पूर्व’ एक भौगोलिक, राजनीतिक इकॉनामि या ईकाई भर नहीं, वह कई भाषाओं, संस्कृतियों का एक समुच्चय है. |
It is tragic that the long-running unrest, violence and terrorism in the North-East has remained a mere digression in the mainstream of the Indian nation-state – ironically, even in the mainstream arts that otherwise come across as very charged and political. The poems by Uddipana Goswami and six poets translated by Tarun Bhartiya, along with stories by Mitra Phuka, Srutimala Duara and Aruni Kashyap, serve as a reminder that the “North-East” is not a geographical, political unit, but a place of many languages and cultures.
