Stefan Jonsson is senior cultural critic at Dagens Nyheter, Sweden’s major newspaper, and
Associate Professor of aesthetics at Södertörn University College in Stockholm. A graduate of the
Program in Literature at Duke University, he has been fellow at the Getty Research Institute in Los
Angeles (1998-2000) and visiting professor at University of Michigan (2006). His most recent book is
A Brief History of the Masses: Three revolutions, 1789, 1889, 1989 (Columbia University Press,
2008).
