Now based in Denmark, Tabish Khair is the author of various books, including the poetry collection, WHERE PARALLEL LINES MEET (Penguin, 2000), the study, BABU FICTIONS: Alienation in Indian English Novels (Oxford UP, 2001) and the novels, THE BUS STOPPED (Picador, 2004), which was short-listed for the Encore Award, and FILMING: A Love Story (2007), shortlisted for the Crossword Award and ranked by Khushwant Singh as one of the 12 best novels by an Indian English writer since 1947. His honours and prizes include the All India Poetry Prize and fellowships at the Baptist University of Hong Kong, Cambridge University and Jamia Milia Islamia University. Khair has just finished his study, THE GOTHIC, POSTCOLONIALISM AND OTHERNESS, which will be published in USA and UK by Palgrave (Macmillan) in August 2009, and his latest collection of poems, A MAN OF GLASS (based on H. C. Andersen’s stories), which will be published in India by Harper Collins in April 2010.
