पिछले अंक में आपने विनय धारवाड़कर के अनुवादों में चार हिन्दी कवियों को पढ़ा. इसी क्रम में इस बार प्रस्तुत है नागार्जुन, विष्णु खरे, विनोद कुमार शुक्ल और अरुण कमल. अन्तिम तीन बहु-अनूदित कवि हैं और नागार्जुन बहुत कम अनूदित. नागार्जुन की कविता की महानता का स्वीकार देर से हुआ, जब मानों एक तरह से बूर्ज्वा प्रगतिशीलता ने मुड़कर सर्वहारा कवित्त को देखा, जब मानों उपनिवेशीकृत, नगरीय आधुनिकता ने (भ)देस को देखा, जब मानों कवि ने बादलों को घिरते देखा. हमें खुशी है युवा शोधकर्ता और कवि मनोज कुमार झा ने यह अनुवाद हमारे लिए किया.
विष्णु खरे ने बहुत अनूठे, अप्रत्याशित स्रोतों से कविता हिन्दी में सम्भव की है. यहाँ प्रस्तुत महाभारत, क्रिकेट की पृष्ठभूमि की कवितायें और यूरोपीय शास्त्रीय संगीत के इतिहास से कौतूहल करती कविता इसका प्रमाण है. विनोद कुमार शुक्ल को बहस करके पिछले तीस वर्षों का सबसे अधिक मौलिक और प्रयोगशील कवि/कथाकार ही नहीं, सबसे बड़ा कवि/कथाकार ठहराया जा सकता है लेकिन सौभाग्य से उनकी कविता इससे भिन्न बहुत चुनौतियों और बहुत आनंदों का मार्ग खोलती है. अरुण कमल भी नागार्जुन और विनोदकुमार शुक्ल की तरह अनुवादसुगम कवि नहीं हैं. उनकी कविता हिन्दी काव्य वाक्य को, और छंदमुक्त कविता की एकरस लय को सूक्ष्म स्तर पर उतना ही बदलती रही है जितना एक अधिक प्रत्यक्ष, ‘विजिबल’ स्तर पर विनोद कुमार शुक्ल की कविता. |
In the last issue, you read 4 Hindi poets in Vinay Dharwadkar’s translation. Continuing the series, this time we present Nagarjuna, Vishnu Khare, Vinod Kumar Shukla and Arun Kamal. The latter 3 are translated often; Nagarjuna, rarely. The importance of Nagarjuna’s poetry gained a belated acceptance when, one could say, bourgeois progressivism looked back on proletariat poetry, when the colonized urban modernity looked back on the indigenous, when the poet saw clouds gathering. The young poet and research scholar Manoj Kumar Jha has translated Nagarjuna for us.
Vishnu Khare has made Hindi poetry possible from very unusual and unexpected sources. The selection of poems presented here – which play out against the backdrop of the Mahabharata, cricket and the history of western classical music – should be proof enough. One could argue that Vinod Kumar Shukla is not only Hindi’s most original and experimental writer, but also the most important. Nevertheless (and, fortunately), his poetry offers many challenges and many pleasures. Like Nagarjuna and Vinod Kumar Shukla, Arun Kamal too is not easily translatable. His poetry, like Vinod Kumar Shukla’s, transforms the Hindi poetic syntax and the rhythms of free verse, albeit more subtly. * The Four Poets |
