हिन्दी पत्रकार-कथाकार अनिल यादव की भारत के पूर्वोत्तर की यात्रा कई तरह से विशिष्ट है – यह यात्रा ‘बेमकसद’ (पूर्वोत्तर से रिपोर्टिंग करके उत्तर-भारत के हिन्दी मीडिया में ‘स्टार’ बन जाने की विनम्र महत्वाकांक्षा को छोड़ दिया जाये तो) की गई, यात्रियों की जेबें लगभग खाली थीं और वे उत्तर-पूर्व के बारे में ‘लगभग कुछ नहीं’ जानते थे. वृतांत की यह पहली किस्त वहाँ समाप्त होती है जब यात्री उस देश पहुँचे पहुँचे भर हैं जहाँ ‘हरियाली का विस्फोट’ होता है.

Hindi journalist/story-writer Anil Yadav’s journey to the North-East of India is special in many ways — the trip was made “aimlessly” (if one discounts the humble ambition of becoming a star in the Hindi media by reporting from the North-East), the traveler’s pockets were almost empty, and he knew “almost nothing” about the North-East. This first installment of his travelogue ends at the point when he has just reached that country where there is an “explosion of greenery”.
