As you walk out of the station the beggar children come to you. They touch your bag, the hem of you clothes, your feet, hesitant. You are afraid to give them money. But their skin is yellow, their stomachs protruding. Some of them have no limbs, no eyes.

You sit still, uncomfortably conscious of the gentle beseeching nudges of a stranger’s hands.
