रामचन्द्र गुहा / Ramachandra Guha
Ramachandra Guha (b. 1958) is an Indian writer whose research interests have included environment, social, political and cricket history. He is also a columnist for the newspapers The Telegraph, Khaleej Times, and The Hindustan Times.
His awards include: the Leopold-Hidy Prize of the American Society for Environmental History (2001) for his essay Prehistory of Community Forestry in India; the Daily Telegraph Cricket Society Book of the Year prize (2002) for his book A Corner of a Foreign Field; the R. K. Narayan Prize (2003); the MacArthur Fellowship; and the Padma Bhushan (2009).
The US magazine Foreign Policy named him one of the top 100 public intellectuals in the world in May 2008.
१९४२ में काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय के रजत जयन्ती समारोह के अवसर पर महात्मा गांधी ने कहा था कि ” हमारे देश के विश्वविद्यालय पश्चिम के विश्विद्यालयों के ‘सोख़्ता’ हैं ।
विश्वविद्यालय की योग्यता का मूल्यांकन पश्चिमी देशों के विद्वानों से करवाने की होड़ लग जाती है।’गुणवत्ता’ के ऐसे प्रमाणपत्र प्राप्त करने के बाद ही वे ‘विश्व स्तरीय’ माने जाते हैं।
विदेश जाने के वजीफे , शोध-परियोजनाएं इस गठजोड़ को पुख़्ता करने के प्रमुख साधन हैं । पश्चिम की अंधी नकल और पश्चिमी देशों की शोध-पत्रिकाओं में परचों के प्रकाशन के साथ जुड़ी प्रतिष्ठा बौद्धिक गुलामी का आम लक्षण है।
ऐसी पत्रिकाओं का प्रमाण पत्र जरूरी है । पद्म पुरस्कारों को तय करने में भी यह संस्तुतियां और महत्वपूर्ण हो जाती होंगी ।
