Preeta Samarasan’s first novel, “Evening Is The Whole Day”, was named one of the Best Books of 2008 by Ali Smith in The Times Literary Supplement and Anne Tyler in The Guardian. It has also recently been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize First Book Award in the South East Asia/Pacific region and longlisted for the Orange Prize. Samarasan’s short fiction has appeared in Hyphen magazine, EGO magazine, A Public Space, Five Chapters, Asia Literary Review, and the anthology Urban Odysseys: KL Stories.

She lives in a small village in central France.
