Padma Narayanan is the translator of several books from Tamil to English and vice versa, including The Stone Laughs and Atonement, two novellas by La Sa Ra (Katha books, 2005) and the novels I, Ramaseshan by Aadhavan and Ashes and Wisdom by Indira Parthasarathy (both published by the Indian Writing imprint of New Horizon Media, Chennai). Her first book-length translation of Appadurai Muttulingam’s short stories, Inauspicious Times, was published in 2008 by Indian Writing / New Horizon Media. Her translation of Krishangini’s experimental short story, “The Portrait”, can be found online here.

Narayanan lives in Chennai with her husband, where she also writes on literature and culture for The Hindu and some little magazines.
