Vaidyanath Mishra, famous as Baba Nagarjuna, is considered one of the greatest Hindi poets of the twentieth century. He, along with Trilochan and Kedarnath Agrawal, forms the great Progressive trinity. He also wrote in Maithili under the pen name ‘Yatri’.

He published more than a dozen volumes of poetry and six novels. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for his Maithili book Patraheen Nagn Gaachh. Some of his well-known works are Yugdhara, Khichdi Viplav Dekha Hamne, Pyasi Pathrai Aankhein, Is Gubaar kee Chhaya mein, Satrange Pankhonwaalee, Hazaar Hazaar Hathonwalee.
