कासी आनंदन / Kasi Anandan

Kasi Anandan, one of the foremost Tamil poets in the world, is presently an exile in Tamil Nadu. He was born on 4 April 1938 in Naavatkuda, a tiny village in Mattakalappu / Batticaloa in Tamil Eelam. His revolutionary Tamil poems have been a major source of inspiration in the Eelam liberation struggle. He spent five years as a political prisoner of the Sinhalese forces. His entire family has been involved in the Tamil nationalist struggle; they have bravely faced political repression. He has published collections of poetry, essays and fables. Besides this, he is also the author of a research work on Tamil poetic forms, a modern war epic and a collection of letters addressed to his martyr brother Jeyam. A legend in his lifetime, he is read widely by the Tamil Diaspora.
