फैरेन्त्स युहास / Ferenc Juhász

(1928-)

Still active and one of the most popular among the senior poets. From a family of farmers. A Hungarian-Sanskrit major at the University of Budapest. Worked for the Hungarian Writer’s Union and was Editor at the Szépirodalmi Publishing House. Winner of the 1949 Baumgarten Prize, 1950 Attila József Prize, 1951, 1973 Kossuth Prize, 1967 Poets’ Prize of Struga, 1971 Miklós Radnóti Prize, 1991 Prize of the Arts Fund, 1992 Golden Wreath of Struga. Nominated for the Nobel Prize (1975-76).

Major works: A tenyészet országa, Mit tehet a költő?, Három éposz, etc.
